Andy Farmer (Chevy Chase) is a sports writer. He just got a huge advance to write his novel. So he and his wife Elizabeth (Madolyn Smith) pack up and move from the city to the ideal rural community where he can have peace and quiet to write. Running into all kinds of odd characters in the town and problems in the house in the country, Andy can't get his creative juices going. However, Elizabeth observes the cute squirrels on their property and is inspired to write a children's book. In a panic, when Andy's editor comes to collect something he's written and Andy knows it is worthless, he steals his wife's book and gets it published under his name. This was the breaking point for Elizabeth who hated living in the country but was trying to make the best of it. Will this be the end of their marriage and their life in the country or can they pull off a scheme to find what they have been looking for, afterall?
