Albert Markovski (Jason Schwartzman) is sick of wandering through life. Curious about a number of coincidences he has with a Sudanese refugee (Ger Duany), he seeks out the help of the existential detective husband and wife team of Vivan and Bernard (Lily Tomlin and Dustin Hoffman). They attempt to connect all the seemingly fragmented segments of his life, such as his hatred of Huckabees executive Brad Stand (Jude Law), his crush on Brads model girlfriend (Naomi Watts), and the fiasco that is his job as head of the open spaces commission. Albert then comes to meet his "other", crazed environmentalist and fireman Tommy (Mark Wahlberg), and the two are taken on by the former protoge of Bernard and Vivan, French philosopher Caterine Vauban (Isabelle Huppert). A wild series of events insues, and all these flawed characters start to understand their lives much better near the end, using a combination of differing philosophical views. Heavy on philosophy and laughter, this is a film that can simultaneously make you think and laugh, a feature rare in today's cinema.
