“Spartacus” is the story of the Thracian slave, Spartacus (Goran Visnjic) who is sentenced to live out the rest of his adulthood laboring in the sweltering Egyptian desert. Now, when the owner of a Roman gladiatorial school purchases Spartacus, he receives a new lease on his life and a chance to start over. In his time in the school, Spartacus makes friends and one such as the Ethiopian warrior Draba (Henry Simmons) whose open defiance inspires Spartacus to lead his own uprising. This up rise threatens Rome’s status quo as it shakes the empire to its very core. This does gain the sympathy of the Roman Senate but the vengeful wrath of Marcus Lucinius Crassus (Angus Macfadyen) who takes it upon himself to make it a personal crusade to crush Spartacus’ rebellion.
