"Father Of The Bride" is the hilarious story of an all American wedding, complete with a pseudo-European coordinator named Fronck (Martin Short). George Banks (Steve Martin) is a successful businessman whose happy existence is turned upside down when his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams) returns from Europe announcing that she is getting married. George imagines a wedding on a shoestring, but when his wife Nina (Dianne Keaton) and daughter find wedding coordinator Fronk and his oriental assistant Howard Weinstein (B. D. Wong) it is clear that there will be no expense spared. George has a difficult time accepting the idea of swans on the lawn, huge modifications to his house, and most importantly the fact that ‘daddy's little girl’ Annie has become a woman overnight. Meeting the in laws presents more challenges for him as he tries to scope out their house, gets chased by their aggressive dogs, and ends up falling into the swimming pool fully clothed while they wait for him at the dinner table. In the end, all the difficulties prove to be worth the effort, and the movie ends with a picture perfect wedding that will warm even the most cynical heart.
