Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) has a passport to disaster. And he needn’t utter a word to prove it! This time he springs a surprise on the French, winning a holiday to their Riviera on a raffle ticket. Along the way he loses his way, loses Stepan (Max Baldry) (or more precisely, separates the boy from his father), loses his passport and money, finds his way (walking an absolute straight line from La Defense to Gare De Lyon), finds true love Sabine (Emma de Caunes) and helps a trashy clichéd film by Carson Clay (Willem Dafoe) win a standing ovation at the film fest. His atrocious French (‘gracias’ for thank you) is surpassed only by his innate ability to get into unpredictable situations – masquerading in a street opera to earn his passage, chasing a runaway bus ticket to a chicken coop, ordering live oysters and shrimp that are challenging to stuff away, unwittingly having the entire French police force in hot pursuit, ruining a commercial shoot as a German soldier and hitchhiking in classic drag and wig to escape from it all. And all this with a camcorder that is permanently in ‘record’ mode.
