BRUCE CERVON'S CASTLE NOTEBOOKS -Vol 1

Castle notebooks 1,2 and 3. Hardcover, 409 pages, black with gilded trim.
Bruce Cervon's note books are full of meticulous notes that he wrote while Dai Vernon spoke and taught. These are from the early years at the Magic Castle. A limited edition of 500 copies

In November of 1922, archaeologist Howard Carter stood in front of what had taken him 15 arduous years to find - possibly the most intact tomb of an Egyptian pharaoh ever uncovered in the Valley of the Kings. Designated KV62, it would soon be known the world over as the tomb of Tutankhamun. While his financier, Lord Carnarvon, along with Carnarvon's daughter and several others, looked on, Carter made, in his words, a "tiny breach in the top left hand corner" of the doorway. He lifted a candle and peered in. The others excitedly asked him if he could see anything and he replied, with his mind almost unable to comprehend the magnitude of his discovery, "Yes, wonderful things."
In November of 2007, magicians got their first glimpse into a hitherto unseen cache of magical treasures when L&L Publishing released the first volume of Bruce Cervon's Castle Notebooks. This book contained the entire contents of the first three notebooks that were kept by Cervon as he soaked up the embarrassment of magical riches that abounded during the early years at the legendary Magic Castle. Only 500 copies of Volume 1 were sold, with every copy being snapped up in a very short period of time. Those who hesitated could only ask the lucky few if the books really lived up to the legend that had built up around the Cervon notebooks over the last four decades. Was there truly anything worthwhile in them? Purchasers who still couldn't believe the sheer number of previously unrevealed secrets could only reply, "Yes, wonderful things."

Notes
Bruce Cervon loves magic! He has been a student of this ancient art since he was 7 years old, and in 1965, began his professional magic career. As a child growing up in Akron, Ohio, he gave neighborhood shows that friends and family eagerly awaited. His livelihood has been derived from performing for nearly four decades.

His act is fast-paced and humorous with much audience participation. When working close-up he almost does his whole act in the audience! He has a wealth of close-up magic and sleight of hand tricks that will make anyone say, “I couldn’t have seen what I just saw” and “it was right before my eyes!” The close-up act runs anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes, or longer depending on the circumstances. His stand-up show, with his unusual sense of humor, is an excellent 25 to 35 minutes for any size audience.

He is a member of The Academy of Magical Arts (The Magic Castle) and has served since 1976 on the Board of Directors of that world renowned organization. He has twice won the award for "Best Close-Up Performer" (and has been nominated seven times.) Additionally, the Academy has nominated him no less than four times for the coveted "Magician of the Year" award. He has also won the award for "Best Lecturer" and is now numbered among the very few select performers who have been retired from eligibility in the awards competition. In 2000, he was honored with the “Performing Fellowship”, the highest Academy of Magical Arts award a performer can receive.

He is a court appointed expert witness on gambling of the California Superior Court and served as an expert consultant in the famous Los Angeles “Chinatown Bribery Case.”

Bruce is a member of Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and American Guild of Variety Artists. He has appeared on both the “big” and “little” screens. He has functioned as performer and technical advisor in many commercials such as those produced by Bank of America, Continental Airlines, Pepsi-Cola, Shell Oil, Pontiac and Rolf’s Wallets (a prize winner for most creative commercial of the year). Other credits include, “The Mike Douglas Show”, “The Merv Griffin Show”, “That’s Incredible!”, “The Jefferson’s”, “Family Ties”, and “For Love and Honor”. And his list of private show clients reads like a Who’s Who of show business!

In addition to performing, Bruce also writes and produces high quality books and video tapes for magicians. The Real Work, Card Secrets of Bruce Cervon; The Cervon File; The Cervon Monte (poker-sized and giant-sized versions); Cervon’s Black & White Trick; and Ultra Cervon have been in print for years. The four volume set of his Dai Vernon Chronicles is complete, and his latest is Cervon’s Hardboiled Mysteries. He also owns one of the finest collections of sleight of hand and gambling books in the world consisting of over 1,000 antique and modern volumes.
