"HIGHER MAGIC - Magic for the Artist", by Oscar S. Teale an architect, friend of Houdini, President of Society of American Magicians. Published by Adams Press Print, 240 Broadway, New York, New York 1920. Rarely available this copy is signed and inscribed on the first fly leaf by Oscar S Teale to Floyd Thayer. Teale has also handwritten "Serial No.145". The chapters in this book pertain to bizarre magic (including séance work). All items are concerned with visual, physical manifestations. Publisher's original card wrapped covers in brick red cloth, gilt title and lettering to spine, gilt lettering and gilt design to front [drawn by the author which represents Hermes as the Patron God of the Arts and Crafts Mysterious - as stated in the book]. All page edges gilt, wine colored end papers. Approx. 8.25 x 5.25 in. Contains 492 pages plus index including 4 pages of magic related ads and ad advertising Teale's other book "OPEN SESAME." Contains 24 illustrations of magic tricks with instructions and other instructions in text only. The book was written in 1912, revised and amended when finally published in 1920.
Acknowledged by all (Houdini, Harry Keller, David Devante, Howard Thurston) to be the Greatest Book on Magic, ever written
