F. William Kuethe, Jr. (b. 1932) is a magic collector and author. Raised in Glen Burnie, Maryland and graduated from the Johns Hopkins University, he was the publisher and editor of The Magic Cauldron, Journal of Necromantic Numismatics and Ye Magical Bloodhound. He wrote the Magic Token "Illustrated Checklist" (October 1978) which was produced as Vol. 18, No. 5 of the TAMS Journal. The Magic Cauldron was a Magic Periodical for collectors published quarterly by F. William Kuethe, Jr. of Glen Burnie, Maryland. It was a small circulation dedicated to historians. Each issue usually came with a supplement of some type, including reproductions of rare paper items, tokens, etc. The magazine started with Number 2, February 1962 and concluded with Number 64 on June 1977. Supplements were included with the issues and consecutively numbered. Issue N2 was issued first, followed by N3, N1, N4, N5..... As the story goes, the publisher started with issues N2, then N3, then N1 to see if there was any interest in his new magazine. If there wasn't he would cease publication after N3 and make collector's always search for N1! The magazine did catch on for a total of 64 issues, spread out over a 15 year publication. Beginning in 1966, Kuethe presented the "Stanley M. Collins Memorial Award" to the collector who made a major contribution to the field of magic collecting during the prior year. Size: 7"x8 1/2"
